You'll know which category you fit into when you consider whether or not you've given the author any feedback. Of course the author writes for herself first (or in this case for Pam first, because it is her present, which is why she already has a complete copy of her own), but if you drop her a note she will a) know she's not inhabiting a vacuum, and b) write you back. Try it. I guarantee I'm right.
